Their Words, Our Pride
I bought it with storage. Easy to assemble, nice craftsmanship. Customer service is good. Stability is also good, don’t know the durability how many years it will last. Packing is also excellent.
Product initially received damaged on two sides but after the escalation of the matter to the seller team it was resolved. The seller has replaced the product, which as described the texture and finish are beautiful. It is certainly a worthwhile addition to your living room.
It’s smooth, it’s sturdy, and it’s classy. I wanted something with smooth edges since I have little kids running around all over the house. Happy with the finish and quality
The bookshelf is indeed very good in quality and I got it at a good deal. Absolutely no complaints about the product itself. The drawers are also good. The shelf is quite heavy which speaks about it’s quality, and also it holds more than 100 books at once.
All people think that online products quality weak comparatively… But this product is awesome… Nice finishing, Nice packaging and easy to install. Tools in the box…

Buy Solid Sheesham Wood Furniture Online in India — Direct From Our Factor
Sona Arts is a direct-to-consumer solid wood furniture manufacturer. We run our own 70,000 sq ft production unit in the RIICO Industrial Area of Churu, Rajasthan, where every bed, sofa, wardrobe and dining set we sell is cut, joined, sanded and polished by our own craftsmen. There is no importer, no distributor and no showroom chain between our factory floor and your living room — which is why our prices sit roughly 20–30% below comparable retail.
We work primarily in solid Sheesham wood — Indian Rosewood, botanically Dalbergia sissoo — the hardwood that has furnished Indian homes for generations. It is dense, it takes polish beautifully, it holds a carved edge, and treated correctly it outlives the person who bought it.
Everything we make ships free anywhere in our 30,000+ pincode network, arrives with free professional installation, and carries a 36-month structural warranty alongside a lifetime termite warranty.
What Is Sheesham Wood, and Is It Good for Furniture?
Yes. Sheesham is a genuine hardwood with a Janka hardness of roughly 1,660 lbf, making it substantially harder than mango wood, comparable to teak in everyday indoor durability, and vastly stronger than any engineered board.
Sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo), commonly called Indian Rosewood, grows across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Its heartwood ranges from golden brown through deep reddish-brown, streaked with darker grain lines that make every plank visually distinct — no two Sheesham beds are ever identical.
Three properties make it the default choice for Indian furniture.
Density. At roughly 750–800 kg/m³, Sheesham carries weight without flexing. A king size Sheesham bed frame from our workshop weighs around 110 kg. That mass is not a shipping inconvenience — it is the reason the joints do not loosen after three monsoons.
Workability. Sheesham carves and turns cleanly, which is why traditional Indian furniture — jaali work, turned legs, carved headboards — is almost always Sheesham. Teak's natural oils make fine carving harder.
Finish acceptance. Sheesham takes stain and polish evenly, which is why one design can be offered in Natural, Honey, Walnut and Teak finishes and look intentional in all four.
Sheesham vs Teak vs Engineered Wood
| Solid Sheesham | Teak | Engineered Wood (MDF / Particle Board) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Natural hardwood | Natural hardwood | Manufactured board |
| Material | ~1,660 lbf | ~1,155–2,330 lbf (varies) | Not applicable |
| Typical lifespan | 25–40 years indoors | 50–100 years | 5–10 years |
| Relative price | Baseline | 50–100% higher | 50–70% lower |
| Moisture resistance | Good when sealed | Excellent (natural oils) | Carpenter Required |
| Can be repaired / refinished | Yes, repeatedly | Yes | No |
| Resale value | Retains value | Retains value | Effectively zero |
| Best for | Beds, wardrobes, dining, sofas | Premium & outdoor | Budget, light-duty, short-term |
The practical takeaway: teak is the better wood on paper and costs roughly double. For indoor furniture in an Indian home, Sheesham delivers most of teak's real-world durability at a price a normal household can justify. That is the whole reason our catalogue is built on it
Other Materials We Use, and Where We Use Them
We do not pretend everything we sell is solid Sheesham. Being specific about this is part of buying from a manufacturer.
- Solid Sheesham — all beds, wardrobes, dining sets, sofas, TV units, bookshelves, crockery cabinets and storage in our core range. Frames are cut approximately 40% thicker than the industry norm.
- Plywood — used as a secondary material in specific structural positions such as bed bases and drawer bottoms, where a stable sheet outperforms solid wood.
- Engineered wood — a small, clearly labelled range of contemporary bookcases, TV units, study desks and chests. These are budget-tier pieces, and the product title says "Engineered Wood" so you always know what you are buying.
- Oak — used in select sofa cum bed frames.
- Upholstery fabric — over 200 fabric options available for customisation across our upholstered range.
Choosing Your Finish: Natural, Honey, Walnut and Teak
Every Sheesham piece we make is offered in up to four finishes. The finish changes nothing structurally — it changes how the room reads.
| Finish | Appearance | Room it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Natural | Lightest. Pale golden-brown, grain fully visible | Small or low-light rooms, Scandinavian and minimal interiors, apartments |
| Honey | Warm mid-amber with a soft sheen | Traditional Indian interiors, homes with terracotta or beige flooring |
| Walnut | Deep chocolate brown, grain reads as texture rather than pattern | Larger, well-lit rooms; modern and contemporary interiors; pairs with grey and white |
| Teak | Rich golden-brown, closest to classic teak wood | Heritage-style homes, rooms with existing older teak furniture |
A rule worth following: in a room under 120 sq ft, choose Natural or Honey. Dark walnut on a large wardrobe in a small bedroom makes the room feel smaller than it is. In rooms above 150 sq ft with good daylight, Walnut looks considerably more expensive & premium than it costs.
If you are furnishing over time rather than all at once, pick your finish first and stay with it. Mixing Natural and Walnut across a single bedroom rarely works.

A wooden sofa is a different proposition from an upholstered one. It occupies less visual space, it does not sag, the cushions are replaceable, and the frame lasts decades rather than years. In Indian homes — where sofas take heavy use and monsoon humidity punishes foam-heavy furniture — that trade is usually worth making.
